UsageStrongcoat DPM is a two-pack, solvent free epoxy-based damp-proof membrane for use with the DCP range of surface coatings and toppings. It suppresses residual construction moisture and rising dampness in concrete and sand/cement screeds and can be used in situations where the relative humidity level is above 75%. It is applied by brush or roller in one or two coats depending on the relative humidity of the floor. Kit form10 and 5Kg Specified Coating ThicknessApproximately 200 microns per coat. CoverageOn grit blasted and textured surfaces, approximately 3.5m² per Kg for the first coat and up to 5m2 per Kg for the second coat. Coverage figures will vary according to the texture, porosity and evenness of the surface on which the Strongcoat DPM is being applied. StorageStore at temperatures between 5°C and 30°C. Shelf lifeApproximately 12 months if stored in unopened containers and under good conditions. |
Technical Information
APPLICATIONSURFACE PREPARATION The surface must be clean, dry and free from dust, laitance, oils, paints or other forms of contamination Grit blasting can be used to remove laitance and urfacecontamination (see theDCP Guide to Surface Preparation for further details). For treatment of surfaces containing expansion joints consult our Technical Department. NUMBER OF COATS REQUIRED One coat of Strongcoat DPM is required where the relative humidity level of the screed is between 75% and 85%. For RH levels between 86% and 98%, use 2 coats MIXING Taking care to ensure that the bottom and sides are thoroughly scraped, transfer the entire contents of the Strongcoat DPM Hardener container into the Resin container and, using a Jiffytype mixer attached to a slow-running electric drill, mix for approximately two minutes. Never mix Strongcoat DPM by hand as this could lead to areas of uncured material. APPLICATION Once mixing is complete, transfer the Strongcoat DPM to a roller tray and, using a medium-pile simulated sheepskin roller, apply it evenly over the surface. WORKING TIME Strongcoat DPM has a working time of approximately 20 minutes at 20°C. Never leave the mixed Strongcoat DPM kit to stand for any length of time prior to application as this will considerably shorten its working time. CLEANING Once mixing and application are complete, tools can be cleaned with a suitable solvent. Cured material can only be removed mechanically. CURING TIME At 20°C, Strongcoat DPM should be allowed to cure for 18 hours prior to carrying out further operations on it. At lower temperatures the cure time will be extended (consult our Technical Department for details of curing times at other temperatures). OVERCOATING The second coat of Strongcoat DPM must be applied no later than 24 hours after the first coat has cured (see Curing Time). The first coat must not be contaminated prior to applying the second coat. WORKING CONDITIONS Strongcoat DPM should not be applied / cured at temperatures less than 10°C. HEALTH & SAFETY Consult the appropriate Material Safety Data Sheets prior to using Strongcoat DPM.
