Description:

Grundix Silicate Primer is an water based deep penetrating primer for exterior and interior use.

Usage

Grundix Silicate Primer is designed for priming and solidifying mineral surfaces, mortar plasters, concrete.

Onto mineral substrates and coatings

For consolidating sanding substrate surface.

Materials Supplied

Grundix Silicate Primer is available in 5 kg, 10 kg, 20 kg packs.

Coverage

Approximately: 0. 2 ltr / 1 m².

The consumption of the material depends on the application method, substrate and consistency, amongst other factors. Exact consumption can be determined by a test application.

Limitations

Grundix Silicate Primer should not be used if air or object temperatures is below 8°C.

Grundix Silicate Primer should not be applied on surfaces expected to suffer from rising dampness. Protect working area from rain and direct sunlight.

Carefully cover the area around the painted surface, especially glass, brickwork and natural stone.

Storage

Store in a shaded place at a temperature of 25°C in original unopened packaging.

Store tightly sealed in frost-free conditions.

Protect against heat and direct sunlight.

Shelf Life

Grundix Silicate Primer has a shelf life of 12 months from date of manufacture.

Application Information

SUBSTRATE PREPARATION

Surfaces should be clean, sound, dry and load-bearing. As well as free from oil, grease, dirt and loose particles.

Check existing coatings for their suitability, load carrying and adhesive properties.

Completely remove any coatings that are not intact or unsuitable.

New concrete substrates must set and harden for at least 14 days.

APPLICATION

Shake well Grundix Silicate Primer in original container before application.

Dilutable with water, depending on the absorption capacity of the substrate.

Grundix Silicate Primer can be applied by brush, roll, or by airless spray-gun. Multiple, wet in wet application is advisable on highly absorbent and sandy substrates in order to achieve optimum depth of penetration and substrate consolidation.

Priming coats may not form a glossy film.

At +20°C temperature (air and substrate) and 65% relative air humidity, the next coat can be applied after approx. 12 hours.
